How to Fix a Broken Fishing Rod
- 1
Trim the broken area with scissors or another cutting device. You do not need to make the break completely even, but both parts of the broken rod need to fit snugly into the ferrule. A ferrule is a metal device used to the hold two parts of a broken rod together. Ferrels can be bought at fishing and outdoors stores.
2Place ferrule cement around the ends of the broken fishing rod and slide each end into one end of the ferrule. Fill any gaps between the ferrule and the fishing rod with cement.
3Use thread and lacquer to replace a broken fishing rod guide. Remove the existing thread from the guide, place the guide back in its original position, and wrap new thread around the guide and the fishing rod. Coat the new thread with lacquer and allow it to harden before using the rod again.
4To repair a broken fishing rod tip, use a scissors to cut the end of the rod off as flat as possible. Place a small amount of cement around the end of the rod. Slide on a new tip. Put cement where the tip meets the rod. Make sure the tip is in line with all of the other rod guides and allow the cement to harden.
